Delhi High Court rejects Kanimozhi’s bail plea

Delhi High Court has poured water over Kanimozhi’s hopes of walking out of jail this summer, rejecting the bail on the same grounds as it has for others in the 2G scam case.

Kanimozhi had appealed to the High Court after her application for bail was rejected by OP Saini, the special CBI judge hearing the 2G scam case in Patiala House.

Kanimozhi had argued that since she was a woman and she was not in active control of her channel — Kalaignar TV, she be allowed to go on bail. She had said that she wanted to take care of her child.

However, the Court dismissed the appeal pointing out that the allegations are too serious and keeping in mind the possibility that she may influence witnesses, if let out. She is currently in Tihar jail and will remain there for several more days. She is now expected to appeal to the Supreme Court.
