When it rains, it pours.
A week after Lenovo introduced India’s cheapest 4G phone, the A6000, priced at just Rs 6,999, Chinese competitor Huawei is all set to unveil a very similar LTE model – the Huawei Honor 4X, priced in the Rs 8,000 range, according to distributors, which has been announced at a price of Rs 10,499.
The launch will make the Honor 4X and the Lenovo A6000 the cheapest 4G phones in India. The Lenovo A6000 is being sold exclusively through Flipkart to keep costs down.
The pricing of Honor 4X is well above expectations. The phone is essentially the same as the A6000 and the recently launched Xiaomi RedMi 2, and it’s puzzling why Huawei has priced it higher than the other two models.
The reason why Xiaomi Redmi 2 and A6000 are able to keep costs down is the same – the Snapdragon 410 chipset.
The chipset is not only priced low, it also comes with built-in LTE, which adds to the savings.
In terms of specifications, the Huawei Honor 4X is almost exactly the same as the Lenovo A6000 and the Redmi 2. All come with 720p HD display. The Honor 4X has a 5.5-inch 720p display and 2 GB of RAM. Internal memory is 8 GB.
The primary camera on the Huawei Honor 4X is 13 MP, while the secondary camera is 5 MP.
