Nokia is planning to launch a large, 6-inch phone in February, and the phone could be named Lumia 1530, 1030 or even 1025, according to market sources.
The price of the Lumia 1530 or 1030, would be in the range of Rs 45,000-50,000.
There has been much speculation about the impending launch of a Lumia 1025 or 1030 model with a six-inch display. However, the six-inch display makes it likely that new phone is the 1530 as the 1020 has a 4.5 inch display.
At present, the 1520 (pictured above) is the highest priced handset from the Lumia family in India, and can set you back by around Rs 39,000. The 1520 was launched exactly a year ago at the end of 2013, and Nokia has been making do without a super high end phone for a long time.
The Lumia 1530 (1030) is likely to have 2 GB of RAM, a full HD or quad HD display (with most leaks indicating a full HD one) and a very high resolution camera.
The 4.5-inch Lumia 1020 comes with a 41 megapixel camera and was launched at a price of Rs 49,999 in October 2013, and is now priced at around Rs 24,000.
Either way, new phone would be a much-needed fill-in for Nokia at the premium end. In all of 2014, Microsoft did not launch a single phone priced above Rs 40,000.
The highest priced phone launched in 2014 was the 930, which was pitched at Rs 37,500. The 930, however, does not come with LTE.
The 1030 or 1530, whichever it is, is almost certain to come with LTE.
Nokia, as yet, does not have a single model with a quad HD display. That too could be remedied with the launch of the next smartphone.
