Even as companies launch newer and newer models of Android phones, Indian IT brand Intex has chosen to come out with an almost smartphone, targeted at budget conscious customers.
The Sense has a 3.2 inch touchscreen display and a 3 megapixel camera at the back and is priced at a reasonable Rs 3690. The phone will compete with similar offerings, mostly from Samsung.
More details, such as the availability of 3G, the touch technology etc. were not given. However, going by the presence of a front-facing camera (usually for making 3G video calls), the Intex Sense may just have some sort of 3G built in after all.
The main aspect that sets the phone apart from other ‘feature phones’ in the market is the presence of applications and widgets.
“When paired with numerous features and exciting applications such as weather forecasts, vocabulary, movie and books, INTEX SENSE offers a unique experience that is simply unmatched in the market at this price point,” said Sanjay Kumar, GM, Mobile Business, Intex Technologies.
Other features in the phone are audio equalizer, sound recorder, LED torch, a motion sensor — pitching the phone at the market just under the basic smartphone category. Users also get a 4-GB data card free, Intex, one of the biggest names in Indian PC peripherals market, said.
