India’s biggest retailer Flipkart has started selling the Nokia Lumia 930, the most advanced phone from the Nokia stable, at a price of Rs 37,200 – a discount of around Rs 1,500 from the phone’s street price.
The Nokia Lumia 930 is not being sold by WS Retail, the biggest seller on Flipkart, but by another seller called Ascent Technologies.
People ordering the phone today (23 Oct) can hope to get the 930 in their hands by Saturday, Nov 1, Flipkart said.
The Lumia 930 is the most advanced phone from Nokia yet, though it is by far not the most advanced phone available in the market.
For example, the phone comes with a full HD resolution display, while phones like the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro (price Rs 33,000) come with quad-HD displays.
However, Nokia’s cameras are known to be very good, if not the best, available on phones in India. The 930 comes with a 20 MP shooter at the back and is powered by a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset.
It will compete with the HTC One M8, the HTC E8, the Moto X2, Oppo Find 7, and a host of phones from Samsung and LG, including the LG G3.
Even before the phone started selling, the Lumia 930 has got 81 ratings from Flipkart customers. Out of that, 75 people have rated the phone at 5 stars, while only 4 have given 1 star.
In an online social poll conducted by RTN involving more than 233 votes, 64% said they would pay no more than Rs 28,000 for the Lumia 930, while 34% said they would pay betweenn 30,000-34,000 for the smartphone.
It may be noted that a lot of users on Flipkart reviewed the product before the pricing (Rs 38,000) was announced.
The Lumia 930 display has been praised by reviewers. “This is the most beautful part of the phone. The 1080x1920p ClearBlack Display Technology with Corning Gorilla glass 3 turns the pictures into real world objects. Yes, I can confirm that,” said a user named Gautam Kabiraj on Flipkart.
Another user was annoyed that color of the phone being sent was not clear on Flipkart. “Which color phone are u going to send me? At least list that here na?”
However, for many fans, availability of Lumia 930 in India is the end of a long wait.
