Intex Aqua Style X 4.5 – the best Android KitKat VFM phone in India?

Intex, which redefined value-for-money at the entry level of the Indian smartphone market with its 2,700 Aqua 4X last month, has done it again – this time with the 4.5-inch Intex Aqua Style X, priced at Rs 4,890.

The phone, which is selling like hot cakes on eBay (the only seller) has much better specifications than the Android One phones launched by Micromax, Karbonn Mobile and Spice at Rs 6,300.

Like the Android One phones, the Intex Aqua Style X is also a 4.5 inch phone, but it has 20% higher resolution on its display than the Android One phones. In other words, the Intex Aqua Style X has 0.5 million pixels on its display compared to the 0.4 mln on that Android One phones.

The only challenger to the Aqua Style X 4.5 is the 5-inch Karbonn Titanium S2 Plus, which is priced Rs 100 higher than the Aqua Style X.

While Karbonn Titanium S2 Plus has a bigger screen (5 inch vs 4.5 inch), it has lower resolution (same as Android One). As a result, in terms of clarity, the Intex Aqua Style X is likely to be a much better proposition than the Karbonn model.

Both have half a GB of RAM, Android KitKat and 8 megapixel cameras at the back.

The Intex Aqual 4X, which was initially launched for Rs 2,990, is now selling for Rs 3,990. As a result, we expect the price of the Aqua Style X to rise as well.

Ebay buyers can also use the coupon EBAYNETC09 to get a 9% discount on the model (as well as other models). Ebay is also offering discounts on Mastercard purchases as well for those using certain bank cards like HDFC.

All said, the phone is selling at a rate of around 5 per minute at this time, and those interested may have to hurry.

One downside of buying phones from eBay is the absence of user rating. As a result, if the models are not reliable, it is very difficult for customers to learn from user feedback.
