UPDATE: Microsoft has announced that the Lumia 930 has is available in stores starting today, October 16.

Online retailers are also likely to start selling the model by the mid of next week.

The Nokia Lumia 930 is the first true high-end phone launched under the Nokia brand this year and comes with a 5-inch full-HD AMOLED (bright) display, a 2.2 GHz quadcore Snapdragon processor and a 20 MP camera.

The phone is already selling on eBay at Rs 35,000. It was launched earlier this month Nokia with a sticker price of around Rs 38,650.

According to an industry source, the phone’s price could drop to the Rs 32,000-34,000 level in a month if demand is weak.

“We don’t know how the market will respond to the phone. If the online interest translates into actual sales, we’ll see prices remaining above Rs 35,000 for at least three months,” said an industry source.

Otherwise, he added, it would be difficult to keep prices above the level.

Going by the reception to Nokia Lumia 830 and 730, the initial pricing of Lumia 930 too should be above Rs 37,000 for the initial few days.

The Lumia 830, which carries a sticker price of around Rs 28,800, too has been able to retain a price of Rs 28,000 on online platforms like Snapdeal, Flipkart etc.

The Lumia 730, which was priced at Rs 15,300, is now available at Rs 15,000. The prices have not fallen much despite complaints by fans online that the phones are overpriced.

The Lumia 930, for example, was expected to be priced in the range of Rs 32,000, at which it would compete on a even keel with the Moto X 2, which has very similar specifications.
