Vodafone India has launched a new service that let’s companies track their employees on the field.
Called Location Tracker, the service allows bosses to log into a web address and see where employees are at any point in time. The locations would be shown on a google maps kind of interface, the company said.
The service is part of its new Red brand of offerings unleashed today.
The service would help in managing employees productivity and manage time, the company said.
It is likely to appeal to marketing and sales teams. It is not clear whether location will be determined on the basis of GPS only, or whether Vodafone would also use its tower data to determine location.
Under the Red brand, the company has cut down data overage charges to Rs 500 per GB from Rs 4000 per GB for postpaid customers. However, unlike Airtel and Idea, Vodafone will continue to not offer booster packs under most of the new plans in Red.
Booster packs help customers get extra data allocation if they run out of data before the billing cycle is complete. However booster packs impact operators profits as they are priced well below overage charges.
