Spice launches Snapdragon-based, 4-inch Android phone at 5.3k

Spice has launched what has to be the cheapest Snapdragon and quad-core processor based Android phone in India, the Stellar 445.

Priced at Rs 5,300, the phone comes with a 4-inch display and Android 4.3 running on 512 MB of RAM.

While we are not sure how Android 4.3, which is quite resource hungry, would run on 512 MB of RAM, the phone does offer an attractive price point for a quad-core model.

Most quad-core phones, including those based on MediaTek chips, are priced above Rs 8,000. The only competitor is the ZTE Blade G2 V880H, which is priced at Rs 5,000, and comes with Android 4.2 and a 4.5-inch display.

The phone also has Snapdragon audio+ Technology and comes with a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad Core processor and supports Multiple Indian Languages such as English, Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi.

Stellar 445 also has a Swift Keyboard, dual sim (3G+2G), 3G Video calling and comes with a 1500 mAh battery.

The smartphone has a 3.2 MP rear snapper, and a 1.3 MP front camera.
