Palred Tech, which sells IT and entertainment accessories under the pTron brand, has launched India’s cheapest Alexa speaker, priced at just Rs 1,799.
The speaker comes with Alexa voice commands, and supports streaming music from services such as Amazon Prime Music, Gaana, Hungama Music, Jio Saavn and so on via wifi.
pTron Musicbot Cube will compete with the similarly priced Boat Stone and the 3rd generation Echo Dot speaker from Amazon.
The 3rd Gen Echo Dot is quite old as it was launched in 2018, and the pTron speaker may turn out to be a more attractive option due to the bigger speaker. However, the power rating remains at a measly 3 watts.
The company claims that the new speaker has “clear vocals and punchy bass” and 6 hours of non-stop playtime.
As indicated earlier, the pTron model does come with a bigger, 5 cm speaker, compared to the 4 cm speaker in the Echo Dot 3rd Generation.
Another plus, for some users, would be that the pTron Musicbot Cube is made in India, while nearly all other such products are made in China.
This is the first Alexa speaker from Palred Technologies, and is available only on Amazon.
Amazon has been trying to sign up more and more hardware manufacturers to incorporate Alexa voice control capability and Alexa skills into their products such as TVs, smartphones, speakers and even more mundane items such as refrigerators.
