Max Healthcare Institute Ltd, one of India’s largest hostpital chains, said it has been allocated around 11.36 acres of land in the heart of Gurgaon city to set up two hospitals.
The two plots, allocated by Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran, measure 6.11 acres and 5.26 acres.
Both plots are in well populated areas of Gurgaon, and located in the heart of the city.
One is located in Sector 53 on the Golf Course Road and the other is in Sector 56 close by.
The company had bid for these plots in a recent auction by Haryan Urban Development Authority or HUDA.
Max already has a multi-specialty Hospital in Sector 43, Gurgaon.
The addition of these two hospitals over the next four years will increase the total number of hospital beds operated by the company in the city by 1,000 beds, as each of these hospitals will have around 500 beds, the company said.
A letter of intent was signed by the company and HUDA on Friday, and the company’s director board has approved the setting up of the two hospitals.
The hospitals, once operational, will also cater to economically weaker section of the society at concessional rates, Max Healthcare said.
“Gurugram has emerged as one of the largest medical hubs for high-end care in North India,” the company said.
“We see a huge potential both in terms of domestic as well as international patients traveling to Gurugram for treatment of complex diseases.
“The two newly acquired land parcels will be constructed in a phased manner, adding around 1,000 beds over the next 4-6 years and will further strengthen our presence in NCR.”
Max Healthcare is arguably the largest private sector hospital chain in the Delhi NCR region, and had recent announced the expansion of its already large Saket complex.
It said it plans to expand the Saket complex by adding 500 more beds on a 3.5 acre plot.
This would make it South Asia’s largest private integrated healthcare complex, spread over 23 acres, it added.
