SpiceJet said it has started offering a doorstep, pre-travel COVID-19 testing service to its passengers.
A healthcare worker will visit the passenger at his or her home and collect the sample well in advance of the flight.
The test result will be ready in time for the flight, and can be used for the same. Several countries require a No COVID-19 certificate for air travelers.
Passengers can also give their test sample in designated collections spots or laboratories.
For now, the service is available in India and the UAE, and is being offered in tie-up wtih VFS Global.
“Though the service is currently available for customers in India and the UAE, we plan to roll it out for a host of other countries very soon,” said Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet.
The test can be booked by visiting the ‘Add-ons’ section of SpiceJet’s website.
The test reports will be sent by the associated laboratory to the registered email address of the individual within 24 to 60 hours, the airline promised.
Indian customers can submit their sample either at a location of choice using the ‘At your Doorstep’ service or visit an associated ICMR approved lab Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Pune.
SpiceJet said test fees will be as per the regulated prices set by local government bodies and same rates will apply for children and adults.
Passengers travelling from UAE can may submit their test samples at the partner labs in Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, or Sharjah, or at a location of choice within the UAE.
Test prices in the UAE will start at AED 160 for both children and adults.
