SpiceJet offers Kerala-Male return tickets at Rs 12.5k

Low-cost carrier SpiceJet announced four new daily flights connecting Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram with Male and Chennai, and announced promotional fares on the routes.

Under the promotional scheme, the 12:30 PM Thiruvananthapuram-Male flight is priced at Rs 5,539 and the return flight, starting at 2:45 PM, is priced at Rs 7,091.

Similarly, the flight to Chennai, scheduled at 5:55 PM, is available at Rs 3,009 and the return, at 9:50 AM, is available at Rs 2,501.

Both flights will be serviced using Bombardier Q400 aircraft.

The Muslim country of Maldives, despite being an attractive tourist destination, is much less explored by Indians compared to other hot destinations like Singapore, Malaysia and Dubai.

“In view of the significant tourism potential, SpiceJet is introducing a direct flight on the Thiruvananthapuram-Male route,” the airline said.

Many Maldivians travel to India for tourism as well as for getting healthcare and for educational purposes.

SpiceJet said the new flight on the Tvm-Chennai route is in response to increased demand on this sector.

Bookings can be done on spicejet.com, the airline’s mobile app and through online travel portals and travel agents.

SpiceJet has added around 150 new flights in the last six months, a feat unparalleled in Indian aviation history.

The company has been trying to occupy as much of the space vacated by bankrupt airline Jet Airways as possible, and has taken many of the aircraft surrendered by the former No.1 private airline to boost its fleet.
