Bharti Airtel chosen network partner for Faridabad smart city project

Telecomms provider Bharti Airtel today said that it has been chosen as the strategic Network Solution Partner by Faridabad Smart City Limited (FSCL) to help set up a high-capacity network in Delhi’s satellite town of Faridabad.

Airtel, which has its global headquarters not far from Faridabad, will provide “a range of connectivity solutions to build a digitally enable ” the city, it said, without revealing the size of the deal or the expected revenue.

Airtel’s solutions will include MPLS (multi-protocol label switching) network, general internet bandwidth and network hardware.

The deal is part of the larger Faridabad Smart City project of the state government of Haryana.

“Airtel’s network infrastructure will empower Faridabad Smart City Limited to implement a range of smart solutions and e-governance services. These will include Smart City solutions such as Adaptive Traffic Control system, City wide Surveillance, Traffic Enforcement System, LED Street Lighting, Smart Signage.

“In future, it will include various other citizen services such as SCADA based monitoring of flow, Automated Online water quality Monitoring,” the Gurgaon-based company said.

The win is a boost for Airtel’s efforts to expand its enterprise operations, even as the consumer mobility market is under severe pricing pressure due to the entry of 4G operator Reliance Jio.

Airtel Business currently has over 3,000 Large and 500,000 Medium and Small enterprise clients.

It provides voice, data, video, and conferencing solutions, as well as network integration, cybersecurity, IoT, cloud, data centers, managed services, enterprise mobility applications and digital media.
