SpiceJet said it will start a daily, non-stop flight between Mumbai and Hong Kong on July 31, the first by an Indian airline.
It already operates a similar flight from Delhi.
SpiceJet will deploy its 168-seater Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the sector.
“The flight is timed perfectly for business and leisure travellers alike with a late night departure from Mumbai (1.05 am) and a morning arrival (9.40 am) in Hong Kong thus maximising passenger comfort and providing more choice and flexibility,” said Chairman Ajay Singh.
SpiceJet will be offering a promotional fare starting at Rs 16,700 on Mumbai-Hong Kong, and Rs 19,200 on Hong Kong-Mumbai routes.
Two days ago, SpiceJet announced new, daily flights on Mumbai-Riyadh, Mumbai-Dhaka, Delhi-Dhaka and Delhi-Jeddah sectors. These too would be served by Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The airline’s new Mumbai-Riyadh-Mumbai flight service will commence operations from 15 August, 2019 while the flight on the Mumbai-Dhaka-Mumbai sector will be effective from 31 July and Mumbai-Jeddah-Mumbai from 5 July, 2019.
It said it will announce new flights from Mumbai to Colombo and Kathmandu.
Since April, SpiceJet has announced a whopping 76 new flights from Mumbai to various Indian and international cities.
In all, SpiceJet has announced 124 new flights since April, in an effort to soak up demand created by the failure of Jet Airways.
These flights touch cities like Madurai, Jammu, Dehradun, Guwahati, Jaipur, Amritsar, Mangalore, Coimbatore, and Belgavi besides additional frequencies to Goa, Chennai, Delhi, Patna, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
