L&T to build Vellara Junction – Tannery Road stretch of Bangalore Metro

Larsen & Toubro said it has received an order worth between Rs 2,500 cr and Rs 5,000 cr to create six underground stations of Bangalore Metro, as well as underground tracks.

The first stretch is for 2.76 km from Vellara Junction to Shivajinagar, including a station at MG Road.

The second stretch is for 2.88 km from Shivajinagar to Tannery Road, including two intermediate stations at Cantonment and Pottery Town.

Both works have to be completed in 3.5 years.

Bangalore Metro currently has two lines with a total length of 42.3 kilometres and 41 stations.

It has a mix of underground, at-grade, and elevated stations using standard-gauge tracks.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka.

Services operate daily between 05:00 and 23:00 running with a headway varying between 4–20 minutes.

The power output is supplied by 750 volt direct current through third rail.
