TVS Motor Co posts strong numbers for November, sales up 26%

TVS Motor Co emerged as a strong performer in November, with a 28% jump in domestic two-wheeler sales volumes.

This was far higher than the 0.8% jump shown by market leader Hero MotoCorp.

TVS’ two-wheeler exports too jumped 24% during the month, taking the overall two-wheeler sales growth to 26% for the month of November.

In comparison, overall two-wheeler sales at Bajaj Auto were up 31%, led by a 45% growth in the domestic market.

Scooter sales in the domestic market were up 43% to 111,763 units, while motorcycle sales grew by 29% to 119,883.

Total two-wheeler sales in India were at 243,323.

The company also exported 46,889 two-wheelers during the month.

In addition, it sold a total of 12,823 three-wheelers, taking the grand total for November to 319,965 vehicles, up 27% over last year.

BAJAJ AUTO

Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto reported a 45% jump in two-wheeler sales in India in November, while overall sales of two-wheelers and three-wheelers, including exports, were up 25%.

India two-wheeler sales jumped to 2.05 lakh in November from 1.42 lakh last year.

However, compared to October, sales were down from 2.82 lakh.

Bajaj Auto’s overall sales numbers, including three-wheelers and exports, were at 4.07 lakh in November, up from 3.26 lakh last year.

However, compared to October, they were down from 5.07 lakh.

In case of Bajaj Auto, it was not just the two-wheeler sales that were impacted.

Sales of commercial vehicles, mostly auto-rickshaws, were at 29,559 in November, down 22% compared to last year.

The motorcycle growth for November is above average for the year. For the year so far, two-wheeler sales in India are up 30% at 17.74 lakh.

However, the growth of 16% in two-wheeler exports was below average. Bajaj Auto exported 1.41 lakh two-wheelers in the month, down from 1.51 lakh in September.

Hero reported lackluster sales for the month, with total sales up just 0.8% on year to 6.1 lakh.
