TVS Motor Co, one of the world’s largest two-wheeler makers, reported a 26% jump in October sales, thanks in part to a festival season that came early this year.
Sales, including exports and three-wheelers, jumped to 398,427 in October from 317,411 last year.
This is a better performance compared to September, when overall sales had increased by 18%.
Out of the 398,427 units sold, 384,307 were two-wheelers, and these saw an increase of 25% during the month, vs 17% in September.
Within the 384,307 two-wheelers sold, 338,988 were sold in India, and these rose 25% from last year as well.
Scooters, which have consistently outperformed motorcycle sales in recent months, continued to power ahead with a 41% growth in the festival month.
With this, scooter sales, at 151,040, have overtaken motorcycle sales, which rose 20% to 150,429.
In September, scooter sales had risen by 17% to 142,562 and motorcycle sales by 16% to 166,489.
EXPORTS
The Company’s total exports grew by 27% to 57,926 units in October 2018, powered by strong three-wheeler exports.
Three-wheeler exports jumped 56% in the month to 14,120, while two-wheeler exports rose 19% to 45,319 units.
TVS exports substantial number of vehicles to Africa.
