Kerala Blasters, one of the prominent teams in Indian Soccer League, has signed up Havells India brand ‘Standard’ as one of its co-sponsors.
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. However, it should come as a positive for the new owners of the team — Nimmagadda Prasad, Chiranjeevi and Allu Arvind, who took over from Sachin Tendulkar this year.
Kerala is arguably India’s biggest market for electrical fittings and accessories due the state’s culture of building large, opulent houses.
The move to sponsor Kerala Blasters is expected to help Standard register on the Malayali psyche.
“Kerala has been very close to our hearts, both as a brand and as a company,” said Abhra Banerjee, who heads the brand at Havells India. “This association with Kerala Blasters is a step forward in that direction.”
Standard has 42 branch offices in India and aims to reach Rs 1,000 crore revenue in next 2 to 3 years. Havells is pushing Standard as a ‘youthful’ brand.
