Ashok Leyland September auto sales up 26%

Ashok Leyland, one of India’s top three commercial vehicle makers, reported strong auto sales for September.

Total medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales rose 21% to 14,232 units in September, compared to 11,805 in the same month last year.

Light commercial vehicle sales were up 44% at 5,141 units compared to 3,566 last year.

Despite this, the growth of medium and heavy vehicle sales, which contribute around 90% of the company’s revenue, was below the average seen for the current financial year that started in April.

The average growth for M&HCV for the financial year so far has been 35%, including September numbers.

Ashok Leyland, a part of the Hinduja Group, is one of the two main bus and full-sized truck makers of India, along with Tata Motors.
