The Delhi government has suspended the license of the Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh after it was implicated in wrongly declaring a newbord dead.
“They cannot take any new patients, but they can continue to treat the existing patients,” Delhi’s health minister Satyendar Jain said.
The move comes even as the Haryana Government on Thursday moved to file an FIR against Fortis Hospital in Haryana in relation to a charge of alleged overbilling.
Two babies, one boy and one girl, were delivered on the morning of November 30 to Varsha at Max Hospital.
One of the babies was stillborn. But the hospital wrongly diagnosed that both were dead and handed over the bodies in a bag.
A panel had found evidence of negligence and said there was no ECG done to confirm the death.
The mother was brought to the hospital from a nursing home in Paschim Vihar, police said.
Just before their last rites, the family found that the boy was alive.
However, the boy later died even it was rushed to a nursing home in Pitampura.
The babies were born premature at 22 weeks and medical experts have said that chances of survival are low in such cases.
However, the family is unwilling to take the excuse and have been agitating for strict action against the hospital.
