Jet Airways strengthens US, Europe schedule with new Air France-KLM deal

Jet Airtways said it has signed a new agreement with Europe-based Air France-KLM that will increase the coverage and capacity of its existing agreement with the airline.

The airlines will be able to extend their coverage and capacity between Paris, Amsterdam and India because of the agreement, while also adding new destinations in the US.

The deal covers 44 cities in India and 106 destinations across Europe, as well as 200 destinations in the US indirectly.

For the current season, Air France, KLM and Jet Airways will operate 64 flights per week between the four Indian cities of Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi on the one side and Paris and Amsterdam on the other.

Out of these, 33 will be from Paris and 31 from Amsterdam. There will no direct flight to Chennai from Amsterdam, but all four cities will be connected to Paris.

The benefits of Jet Airways’ loyalty program will be available on Air France-KLM as well.

Moreover, Air France-KLM will also be able to connect Indian travelers directly to US destination thanks to its existing tie-up with Delta Airlines, it said.

“We are innovating within the airline industry by offering connections between two partnerships for the first time: our enhanced cooperation agreement for India – Europe with Jet Airways and the Air France-KLM and Delta Air Lines’ Europe – North American joint venture,” said Jean-Marc Janaillac, Chairman and CEO of Air France-KLM.

“Jet Airways, Air France, KLM, and, Delta Air Lines will thus connect India to a vast transatlantic network via the Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol hubs,” he added.

He said over 1.2 mln customers are carried between India and Europe by the Group (plus Jet Airways) and half of these passengers travel onward to North America.

Air France-KLM and Delta Air Lines have a transatlantic partnership between Europe and North America that covers more than 200 destinations in North America.

Besides the above, Air France KLM Cargo and Jet Airways Cargo have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their cooperation in the cargo sector, the Indian company said.
