Vodafone said it will offer Rs 50 per month in extra talk-time for people using any Intex 2G-only feature phone, provided they top-up by Rs 100 or more per month.
The offer will work for 18 months. However, Vodafone said the offer is valid only till 31st October, which could indicate that it must be activated on or before that date.
“For every voice plan recharge up to Rs. 100, Vodafone customers using Intex 2G handsets will get additional Talk time of Rs. 50, or 50% extra cashback, thus saving up to Rs. 900 over a period of 18 months,” the telecom operator said.
The cashback can be used to buy voice calls, SMS and Value Added Services, Vodafone said.
The scheme will work on all current and upcoming 2G feature phone models by Intex, including those recently launched as a part of the ‘Navratna’ series.
It is not clear how the benefits can be ‘activated’ or indeed whether they need to be activated manually.
The scheme is supposed to make Intex phones more attractive to Vodafone customers as Reliance Jio starts rolling out its Jiophone featurephone.
Commenting on the partnership, Nidhi Markanday, Director & Business Head, Intex Technologies said, “Our partnership with Vodafone for voice plans will play a major role in catering to feature phone users to enjoy additional voice calls with family and friends this festive season.”
To counter the Jiophone, Intex is also providing a Special Service offer of 180 days replacement warranty on all 2G feature phones.
The special service offer is applicable on all such phones irrespective of their launch date, provided the mobile phone should have been activated from 1st September, 2017.
Jiophone costs Rs 1,500, which can be refunded after three years, and offers unlimited voice and data at about Rs 150 per month. About six million Jiophones have been ordered by customers already. It is expected that nearly all of those orders will be fulfilled over the next four weeks.
In August, Intex launched its first 4G VoLTE feature phone ‘Intex Turbo +4G’ as part of its feature phone series ‘Navratna’. The series include one 4G VoLTE model and eight 2G models in the price range of Rs 700-Rs 1500. The Vodafone offer is not available on the 4G models.
