Jet Airways cancels several flights from Mumbai due to rains

Jet Airways said it is cancelling several of its flights from and to Mumbai to cope with the situation created by incessant and heavy rains in the city.

The flights include those to Vodadara, Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and others.

“Inclement weather in Mumbai during the last 24 hours, including the suspension of arrivals and departures between 1615 – 1700 hrs. on August 29, 2017 at Mumbai Airport impacted Jet Airways’ flight schedule yesterday, resulting in the airline’s flights from Mumbai being delayed by up to 30/40 minutes.

“To minimise the impact on the network n hasten recovery, the airline had to cancel a few scheduled flights,” the airline said.

The full list of the cancelled flights is attached in the table above.

The airline said that passengers on other flights too should re-confirm their timings via the Jet Airways’ website www.jetairways.com or by contacting the airline’s Contact Centre on the helpline number 39893333.

Updates are also being provided on the airline’s social media platforms, it added.

It also extended a waiver on penalties arising out of change of date or flights, cancellation refunds and no-shows on all the confirmed tickets issued for travel on August 29 and August 30, in to or out of Mumbai scheduled to depart on or before 3 PM.

Mumbai received about 468 mm of rain – the equivalent of 12 days of average daily monsoon rainfall — in just 12 hours, leading to flooding of the streets and disruption in traffic and train services.

Spicejet too has issued instructions to passengers to re-check their flight timings for several airports on the West Coast, including Mumbai, Kochi and Kandla in Gujarat.

Due to Bad Weather (Rainfall) at Kandla (IXY), all Departures/Arrivals and their consequential flights might get affected. Passengers are requested to cross check their flight status before leaving for the airport,” it said, adding to similar warnings for the other cities.

Indigo is also offering a waiver of rescheduling charges as well as cancellation fees for Mumbai passengers on Tuesday and Wednesday.

For queries, it has set up a helpline on 9212783838.
