Amazon Fire TV Stick Launch: Airtel offers 100 GB data free

Bharti Airtel said it would provide 100 GB of free high-speed data to anyone who purchases Amazon’s Fire TV Stick in India.

The offer is available to Airtel customers on broadband as well as ‘4G Home Wifi’, but not to normal, handset-based 4G users.

The data quota can be availed in buckets of 35 GB per month for three months from the date of activation.

FIRE TV LAUNCH

Amazon launched its Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote in India today.

The stick, priced at Rs 3,999, is very similar to Google’s Chromecast device, which is priced at Rs 3,399.

The Fire TV Stick practically converts a regular TV into a smart TV, while the Chromecast requires a smartphone to control it.

This is especially apparent as the Amazon product comes with a remote control that is capable of fully controlling the content on the screen.

Like Chromecast, the Fire TV Stick also supports non-Amazon apps such as Youtube, Netflix etc. Airtel said its content app will also be supported on the device, which comes with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage memory.

The remove controlled supports voice search, which helps relieve the need for a wireless keyboard to enter search terms and app names.

“While the data offer can be availed by existing as well as new Airtel home broadband and 4G home Wi-Fi customers, free access to content on Airtel Movies will be available to all Airtel mobile customers as well,” the telecom company said.
