Vodafone halves 4G data prices: 4 GB at 255 | 22 GB for 999

Vodafone has halved data prices, six months after cutting them by about 40%.

Under the new 4G tariff announced today, customers will get 4 GB of data for Rs 250 and 22 GB for Rs 999.

These are roughly half of the prevailing data rates in the market.

The current data price in the market is 2 GB for Rs 250 and 10 GB for Rs 999.

Vodafone is also offering 35 GB for Rs 1,500.

These prices are far cheaper than the tariff unveiled by Reliance Jio in September. Jio is offering only 10 GB for Rs 999 and 20 GB for Rs 1,500.

“These packs are available across all circles in which Vodafone offers 4G services,” Vodafone said.

“Our customers are consuming more of content and video online. With these super rich data packs, our rapidly growing base of 4G customers across 17 circles can enjoy much more of mobile internet while remaining confidently connected on Vodafone SuperNet,” said Sandeep Kataria, Chief Commercial Officer, Vodafone India.

These 4X data packs can be purchased via digital channels as well as all retail touch points. The benefits can be enjoyed at any hour of day or night, when connected to the Vodafone network.

The move marks an aggressive step by the British telecom major, which has typically offered the highest data prices in the country.

At one stroke, the company has gone from the most expensive to the cheapest data provider in the country.
