Vodafone 4G to reach 1,000 cities by year-end, Rewari launched today

Vodafone said it will extend its 4G network to 1,000 towns in India by end of the year.

The company, which launched its 4G service in Rewari in Haryana today, said the initial roll-out consists of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana, Gujarat, UP (E) and West Bengal circles.

The nine circles contribute to just under 70% of Vodafone India’s data revenues, it said.

The company has acquired spectrum across the country in the just-concluded auctions, but those circles are likely to see launches in the second phase.

The service will be rolled out across Haryana over the next few months.

Vodafone 4G service in Haryana is built on fibre backhaul, and is supported by its 3G services.

“Haryana is a strong leadership market for Vodafone India. Beginning with key business and residential corridors of Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak,Hisar, Bhiwani, Bahadurgarh, Jind & Rewari. Vodafone is now expanding its services across Rewari and the entire state in a phased manner”, said Mohit Narru Business Head–Haryana, Vodafone India.

In Haryana, Vodafone has 286 branded retail stores.

Vodafone India, established in 2007, is a fully owned subsidiary of the Vodafone Group Plc.

It has mobile operations in 26 countries and has fixed broadband operations in 17 markets. As of 30 June 2016, Vodafone had 465 million mobile customers and 13.7 million fixed broadband customers.
