Demand continues to be strong for Le 2, the second mass-market phone launched by LeEco in India.
The phone was sold out in a matter of seconds on Flipkart when sales started at 12 PM today.
The device is arguably the most attractive handset in India in terms of value for money.
For Rs 12,000, you get a powerful SD 652 chipset, advanced LTE, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and a super bright 5.5-inch full-HD display. Those who have Citibank credit and debit cards could get 10% extra cash back today.
The phone sold around 50,000 units in the first flash sale that took place a week ago. After today, the total sales of the phone is likely to cross the 1 lakh mark.
In comparison, its closest competitor, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, has already sold over 10 lakh units in the last three months, having started its sales three months ago.
Though priced at the same level as the Redmi Note 3, the Le 2 offers a clearly superior processor which is 50% more powerful compared to the SD 650 contained in the Redmi Note 3.
The camera on the Le 2 is also supposed to be better than that in the Redmi Note 3, as is the display.
On the downside, availability for the model remains a concern compared to the Note 3 from Xiaomi. The Le 2 also trails the Redmi Note in the battery department, where the Redmi Note 3 offers a 4 Ah battery while the LeEco model has a 3 Ah unit.
Besides, Flipkart does not allow people who have bought the Le 2 to post their opinions about the product, at least not yet. This is a handicap for those who are waiting for user feedback before deciding which model to buy.
After facing initial supply constraints, Xiaomi has managed to get enough stocks in recent days. The company has so much stock that it has started advertising the Redmi Note 3 on TV — something it never needed to do in the past for any of its models due to high demand.
LeEco is also selling the Le Max2, a high-end flagship phone priced at Rs 22,999 — also on Flipkart.
