Demand for Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3 32 GB version continues to remain very strong despite the launch of newer models like the Meizu M3 Note and the upcoming launch of LeEco Le 2.
The phone was sold out soon after it was put on open sale at 10 AM today, even as the 16 GB variant continues to remain available.
Xiaomi made both variants available on its own website, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon.
However, the 32 GB version is now out of stock on all these websites.
The news is both good and bad for Xiaomi. It is good as it shows that people continue to rank the phone very high in their wish lists even though they now have other options like the M3 Note, which is cheaper by Rs 2,000.
The only major drawback to the Meizu model is that it has a slightly lower-powered chipset.
The strong demand also shows that even the LeEco’s upcoming Le 2 model has not been able to dent buyers’ enthusiasm for the Xiaomi model.
However, on the negative side, the experience today could be seen buy consumers as yet another instance of the company not living up to its promises.
Xiaomi had floundered in its initial attempts to bring supplies of the 32 GB version of the Redmi Note 3 to India, and only negligible quantities of the phone could be brought into the country in the first one month after it started selling.
Ahead of LeEco’s Le 2 launch, Xiaomi had made a promise that it is stocking up and will make the phone available “at any time”.
“We have stocked up on your favourtie Mi phones! From today, you can get Mi 5 and Redmi Note 3 at any time, no registration required. Spread this great news to your friends so they can get what they want too,” it said today morning.
That said, the company has promised that it will continue to replenish its stocks soon on these websites.
LE 2 LOOMING
Xiaomi must sell as many Redmi Note 3 as possible over the coming week as next Wednesday, LeEco will launch its much awaited Le 2.
The Le 2 is not only about 55% more powerful than Redmi Note 3, but also has superior cameras on the front and the back. The only area where the Note 3 could claim superiority is in terms of battery backup, as it comes with a 4 Ah battery, while the LeEco has a 3 Ah battery.
In addition, the Le 2 is likely to be priced at Rs 12,999, or Rs 1,000 higher than the Redmi Note 3.
