COMING UP: Big Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 open sale on Snapdeal, Flipkart, Amazon and Mi.com

redmi-note-3-open-saleThree months after it started ‘selling’ in India, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will finally be available on more ecommerce websites starting from Wednesday.

The Chinese company said the model will now be available on Snapdeal, Flipkart, Amazon and Mi.com as part of an open sale at 10 AM on Wednesday.

Xiaomi had abandoned the registered flash sale model in April.

POOR START

The Redmi Note 3 was supposed to have started selling in March. However, even by mid-April, the company could hardly manage sufficient stocks to meet demand — especially for the sought-after 32-GB version.

The Note 3 had an estimated demand in the millions in March, but the company could manage a supply of only a few thousands in the month.

It was only starting in the second half of April that substantial number of phones started coming to India. Two weeks ago, the company announced it had reached a sales milestone of 6 lakh units for the two variants of the phone combined. Xiaomi, however, did not specify how many 32-GB versions were sold.

Meanwhile, on May 7, Meizu started selling its M3 Note for Rs 2,000 less than the Redmi Note model.

Meizu said it sold 100,000 units in the first flash sale itself, while Redmi Note 3 (32 GB) is supposed to have sold only a few thousand units at its first flash sale.

Another big competitor coming up for the Xiaomi model is the Le 2, which will launch in India on June 8 — or the Wednesday after the coming one.

The LeEco Le 2 is a clearly superior model to any of the mid-range models available in India, and is expected to come with a Snapdragon 652 processor, which is about 40% more powerful than the Snapdragon 650 contained in the Note 3.

It also has a superior, 16-MP camera at the back and a 8 MP selfie-shooter as well as a Type C USB connector.
