After big brands like Lenovo and Xiaomi, Karbonn too has launched its range of VR headsets and handsets.
The first two VR models are Karbonn Quattro L52 and Karbonn Titanium Mach 6.
The headset will come bundled with the handsets, which are priced at Rs 7,490 and Rs 8,790.
“Virtual reality is the next big growth area in consumer technology. As per a recent report, the global Virtual Reality market is expected to touch an estimated $120bn by 2020. While the technology offers huge growth potential in India with the burgeoning Smartphone market, affordability would be key to encourage mass adoption,” said Shashin Devsare, Executive Director, Karbonn Mobiles.
“We are optimistic about the consumer response and are confident that Karbonn’s range of VR Smartphones will be a key cog in bringing the benefits of VR technology to the masses..”
The glasses come fitted with bi-convex lenses which augment a video to provide a theatre-like experience making it a highly useful tool for archiving walk-throughs of popular historical monuments, museums etc.
Both the devices come pre-embedded with a library of engaging games and video content. Users can also create their own VR videos using the pre-embedded VR app.
The cheaper model, Karbonn Mach Six, comes with a 6 inch HD display, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. Battery is 3.3 Ah while processor is quad-core.
The Rs 8,790 model, Quattro L52, comes with a 5 inch HD display and has 8 MP camera.
It should be kept in mind that these are devices that have 720p displays and are unlikely to give as good an experience as handsets with full-HD displays like Lenovo K5 Plus and K4 Note, or those with quad-HD screens HTC 10 and Samsung S7.
