Less than 24 hours remain for the start of the mega sale planned by Xiaomi for its Indian fans — the Mi Fan Festival.

The Chinese company has been at the receiving end of fans’ ire after failing miserably to fulfill fans’ expectations in recent times.

While 2015 was all about missed launches, 2016 has so far been more about lack of supplies.

After launching the much awaited Redmi Note 3, the company has not been able to supply even 1% of the demand for the product even after a month, irritating fans who have been waiting for months for an updated Note.

MI FAN FESTIVAL

The fan festival is the company’s attempt to rectify its relationship with its customers and fans, and involves the sale of the 32 GB version of Redmi Note 3, which has a demand in excess of a million, but actual sales of 2,000-4,000 in a month due to poor supplies.

That is about to change tomorrow, as Xiaomi has promised that three models — Redmi Note 3 (16 GB), Redmi Note 3 (32 GB) and Mi5 32 GB will be available without any prior registration.

Sales will happen at 11am, 2pm, and 5pm.

Xiaomi will also be offering a 20 Ah power bank for sale as well.

We expect both the Redmi Notes and Mi5 to see brisk demand and get sold out within seconds, despite a lot of fans feeling disappointed at the pricing of the Mi5. The Mi5, which was launched in China at around Rs 20,500, is offered in India at Rs 25,000 due to higher taxes.

If you are on the lookout for a 4G phone, remember that Reliance Jio will start offering its LYF branded phones by the end of the week with a huge amount of free data.
