Reliance has introduced three more LYF 4G smartphones with prices starting from Rs 4,999 in India ahead of Jio’s expected launch in the next 3-4 weeks and also cut prices of existing phones.
The new phones launched today are Flame 2, Wind 4 & Water 7, out of which the cheapest one is Flame 2.
Wind 4, one of the three phones introduced today, will come with a massive 4000 mAh battery, while Water 7 will come with optical fingerprint sensor which will make fingerprint detection and verification simpler. This is the first phone from the brand with a fingerprint sensor.
Both Wind 6 and Flame 1 come with an unnamed Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipset and 1 GB RAM.
Both the devices feature a 5MP front camera, apart from a 5MP rear camera, with special modes such as blink detection, smile detection, etc. The company will also be offering a complimentary transparent back cover.
Flame 1 is designed for allowing ‘perfect selfies every time’. The front camera is also slated to make for a great video calling experience. It is available in four vibrant colours – white, black, dark blue, and dark red.
Wind 6 has a 5-inch IPS Display, 1 GB RAM, Premium gloss finish, compact design, and is designed to suit all your communication needs. It is available in white, black, and gold colours.
It said it was planning to launch these three devices in the second half of March, but they will now be available slightly ahead of schedule.
It said it has decided to “advance the launch” after “the overwhelming response to its initial range of devices.”
It will also give discounts of already launched devices as part of its Holi Celebration offer.
“These new models, earlier scheduled for launch in the later half of March, will now be available across retail stores over the next few days. With the introduction of these new devices LYF’s portfolio now spans 8 models ranging from the affordably priced devices at Rs 4999 to the premium devices,” it said.
With this, the company has again brought down the price of an entry-level VoLTE phone to under Rs 5,000 from Rs 6,450 earlier. Mukesh Ambani, chairman of the company, had promised LTE handsets costing less than Rs 5,000 when Reliance Jio launched its services.
“The launch of new devices is in line with the company’s vision of ensuring availability of 4G LTE smartphones across price points to encourage mass adoption of high speed internet, high-definition voice, video calls and rich value-added services,” Reliance Retail, a sister concern of Reliance Jio, said.
PRICE CUTS
The LYF models that are getting price cuts are Earth 1, Water 1, Water 2, Flame 1 and Wind 6.

The Reliance Digital website also talks about a Holi Offer, and it is not clear whether further discounts are available as a part of the new offer or not.
