Flipkart was in the cross hairs of irate customers after the company’s application failed to cater to many users today – the third day of its Big Billion sale.
Twitter users were unforgiving in their comments, reminding the company of a similar ‘meltdown’ a year ago.
Last year, Flipkart’s website had crashed after lakhs of users tried to access it at the same time when the annual Diwali sale was held.
This time, Flipkart has added to users’ frustration by refusing to give details of the offers easily on its website and instead goading browsers to use their phones instead. Many Indians prefer to do their online shopping on the bigger display of their computers instead of on a five-inch screen.

In fact, there have been reports that the company is planning to shut down its website and sell only on mobile phones.
Restricting the sale to the mobile phone also prevents people from comparing side-by-side the prices for the item from rival sellers such as Amazon and Snapdeal.
For example, many of the offers that Flipkart is giving today — such as those on Xiaomi devices — have been available on Amazon for a couple of days.
However, while the move to the app may have inconvenienced some users, it did force others to download the shopping software, pushing the app to the No. 1 spot in Android Play Store in India.
