A series of new phones from China have started becoming available in India, including the ultra-stylish Vivo X5Pro, the Oppo Neo 5 and the Gionee P2M.
VIVO X5PRO Price Rs 27k
The Vivo X5 Pro is obviously the most interesting of the three phones as it comes with a full-HD Super AMOLED display and is one of the most stylish phones in the sub-30,000 market.
In fact, full-HD Amoled displays are something that is not often found on phones outside the Samsung stable.
Because of this, the most natural competitor for Vivo X5Pro is the Samsung Galaxy A7, which is currently selling for Rs 25,000 india.
It will also compete with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8, which will have a 5.7-inch full-HD super AMOLED display, and will be priced at Rs 30,000.
Those who don’t mind buying a dated model would also compare the phone with the Moto X2, which has similar specifications and is priced at just Rs 22,000.
Though priced at Rs 27,000, you can knock off a couple of thousands from the price of Vivo X5Pro with some smart bargaining.
The Vivo X5Pro has a 5.2 inch display with Gorilla Glass protection, 16 GB of internal storage and 2 GB of RAM.
It comes with a 13 MP camera and an 8 MP front shooter.
Under the hood of the X5Pro is the mid-range Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor and the Adreno 405 graphics unit.
Most of the other specifications are what you’d expect from a Rs 25,000 sub-flagship model.
OUR TAKE – The Vivo X5 Pro is one of the cheapest phones offering a full HD super AMOLED display, and as such deserves the attention of those who like vivid, sparkling displays. It will also appeal to those who want an extremely stylish phone, but don’t want to pay Rs 50,000 for it.
PANASONIC P55 Novo Price Rs 8,600
The Panasonic P55 Novo and Eluga I are the latest from the Japanese giant that has often been mistaken for yet another Chinese smartphone maker that arrived recently in India.
The P55 Novo, as the name implies, is the refreshed version of the P55 launched last year and there are no big changes.
The display is big, at 5.3 inches, while the resolution is only 720p. The operating system is Android KitKat. It is difficult to recommend this 3G-only phone at the current price of Rs 8,600.
GIONEE P2M Price Rs 7,000
The Gionee P2M is also another slightly high-priced phone. At Rs 6,999, the phone offers a modest 4-inch 0.4 MP display and no 4G. The phone is available from Gionee’s online shopping website.
XOLO ERA Price Rs 4,444
Xolo Era is Xolo’s first attempt to tap into the new style of retail — high volumes, online-sales and low margins.
The Era is one of the cheapest phones with a 5-inch display, and comes with 1 GB of RAM and an 8 MP camera at the back.
