Flipkart, among India’s top two online retailers, said Eric Lange will join the company as Vice President of Product Management for its Customer Experience.
Lange joins from Yahoo, where he was Vice President of Product Management in the Ads division. Lange is the latest in a series of senior Silicon Valley technology executives to join Flipkart’s rapidly growing enterprise in Bangalore.
“In this role, Lange will be responsible to ensure and maintain exceptional service to any customer buying products on Flipkart,” the ecommerce company said.
Yesterday, the company announced the appointment of Google veteran Ambarish Kenghe as head of product at its Myntra division.
“Flipkart has become a magnet for global tech talent because we offer an unrivalled opportunity to help build a world-class product and engineering company that is at the vanguard of transformational change in one of the largest and most exciting markets on the globe,” said Punit Soni, Flipkart’s Chief Product Officer.
Lange has been writing code professionally for more than thirty years, according to his bio supplied by Flipkart.
“As a Vice President at Yahoo, Lange managed the analytics and publisher products for the company’s $2 billion ad business. He also spearheaded Yahoo’s successful acquisitions of the mobile advertising and analytics company Flurry and the video advertising platform BrightRoll.”
Before joining Yahoo, Lange founded and served as CEO of Flicket.tv, a startup dedicated to streamlining the way internet videos are viewed. He also spent seven years at Google, where from 2010 to 2012 he was Head of Monetization for Asia Pacific, leading product development and strategy for the company’s advertising business.
Before that he oversaw the development of Google’s Customer Relationship Management system and was a key member of its ecommerce product team.
“I am excited to once again join an industry-leading company that values innovation and consumer experience and am looking forward to redefining what the world expects from customer service. My passion and experience is a perfect match for Flipkart’s customer-centric approach.” said Lange about joining Flipkart.
Lange earned a BS in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA from Duke University. He is a joint holder of five technology-related patents.
Lange, who will begin working at Flipkart’s Bangalore headquarters in August, is the third high-profile Silicon Valley figure to sign on with Flipkart this year, joining Soni and Peeyush Ranjan.
Before becoming Flipkart’s Chief Product Officer, Soni was a senior product leader at Google and Motorola, where he helped develop some of the world’s most revolutionary products, including Google News, Google Books, Google Plus, Google Mobile and a suite of Motorola Devices including Moto X, Moto G and Moto E. Ranjan, who serves as a Senior Vice President and Head of Engineering at Flipkart, spent nine years at Google’s Mountainview, Calif., headquarters, where he managed Google’s Android One engineering group and Motorola’s Value Devices engineering group and was Managing Director of Google India for research and development.
