4G version of Sony Xperia E4, E4g, now available in India at price of Rs 13,500

Sony Xperia E4g, the 4g version of the recently launched mid-ranger from the Japanese brand, is now available in India at a price of Rs 13,500-14,000.

When the E4 was launched a month ago, Sony officials had had revealed that a 4G version of the Xperia E4 was in works and would be launched soon.

The handset is now here, and available with select retailers in Delhi.

In all other aspects, the new handset is very similar to the E4.

The only difference is in the processor, which has been changed to the 64-bit, LTE-enabled MediaTek MT6732. Like the previous processor, MT6582, this one is also quad-core.

The MT6732 is specifically tailored for entry-level phones, and can be compared to the Snapdragon 410 series.

In terms of power, the new processor is about 40-50% more powerful than the older one MT6582.

Disappointingly, Sony has not upgraded the operating system for the E4g and continues to offer Android KitKat, even as most new launches are coming with Android Lolipop.

Another area where there is improvement is in graphics, where Mali 400 series has been replaced by the newer Mali-7760.

RAM is unchanged at 1 GB, as is internal memory at 8 GB. Camera too is maintained at 5 MP and 2 MP.

Xperia E4, which was launched at Rs 12,490 on Mar 17, is now available at Rs 10,700 – barely a month after the launch. With the launch of the E4g, the price of the 3G model can now be expected to fall to the Rs 8,000 level.

Interestingly, the Xperia E4 is not available at any of the major online retailers. Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal don’t stock it.
