Finance minister Arun Jaitley launched a scathing attack on the Congress Party for ending the monsoon session of the Parliament in a wash-out.
“No legislation work could happen in monsoon session.. It was sad on the part of nation and at the same time was educative for the nation,” he said today.
GST bill could not be passed because of washout of the monsoon session of parliament, the finance minister said.
“If this bill has got passed then it would have been great achievement for our nation. It would have encouraged the business and revenue in the nation but congress party’s only strategy of stall any government other than Congress party,” he added.
It was first time in the history that a party supremo entered the well of a parliament house, he said, attacking Sonia Gandhi’s move to leave her seat and protest along with other MPs.
The Congress Party has been protesting against reported irregularities committed by senior BJP ministers and functionaries, including Sushma Swaraj, the external affairs minister, and Vasundhara Raje, the chief minister of Rajasthan.
However, the BJP has not taken any action against either of the two key leaders, angering the opposition. The tussle resulting in many key bills — primary among them the Goods and Services Tax bill — not being passed in this session.
The GST bill — originally brought out by the Congress-led government — is seen as a huge step forward in helping businesses carry out their function in the country.
Jaitley said the BJP will go to the people to inform them of what has happened in the two houses.
“From 25 september to 02 october we will go to the different constituencies of India to tell the truth behind the disruption of the parliament,” he said.
Special campaigning and a large number of meetings will be done in the constituencies represented by Congress party and Left. Talking on Rahul Gandhi’s statement about FTII issue FM said, “The more he grows the more he immature.”
