JSW Steel Limited, the flagship company of the Mumbai-based JSW Group, reported a 4% increase in production of crude steel in May 2019.
JSW produced 14.53 lakh tonnes of crude steel during the period, compared to the 13.99 lakh tonnes produced a year ago.
Besides crude steel, the company also produces long rolled products as well as flat products.
While the production of flat rolled products registered a growth of 6% at 10.17 lakh tonnes in May 2019, the output for long rolled products increased by 9% to 3.58 lakh tonnes.
Flat rolled products are used in automotives, heavy machinery, pipes and tubes, construction and packaging whereas long rolled products such as wires, rods, bars and rails are mainly used in the construction sector.
JSW had reported an increase of 2% in crude steel production for the month of April. JSW had produced 1.4 million tonnes of crude steel during the period.
