Bajaj Auto domestic two-wheeler sales up 7% in May

Bajaj Auto reported a 7% jump in two-wheeler sales in India for May, while overall sales of two-wheelers and three-wheelers were up 3%.

Bajaj Auto, the country’s biggest two-wheeler exporter, also reported a jump of 6% in its May exports.

Bajaj sold 2.05 lakh motorcycles in India during May and exported 1.59 lakh.

Bajaj Auto’s domestic sales performance during May has been flat from that of April.

During that month, Bajaj sold 2.05 lakh motorcycles in India and exported over 1.68 lakh.

However, the performance is well below what was seen in previous months.

For example, Bajaj Auto’s domestic sales rose 27% to 2.59 lakh units in March.

Besides two-wheelers, Bajaj Auto also makes three-wheelers or auto- rickshaws, a market where it has a share of over 50%.

The sales of three-wheelers fell 6% in India to 30,103, while exports declined by 26% to 24,064 units in May.

Headquartered in Pune, Bajaj Auto is is the world’s third-largest manufacturer of motorcycles and the second-largest in India. It is the world’s largest three-wheeler manufacturer.
