Cox and Kings unit to open its fourth hotel in France

Cox and Kings unit Meininger Hotels said that it has signed a contract with French real estate developer COFFIM for the construction of a 194-room hotel in Marseille, its fourth in France.

The new hotel, scheduled to open in 2021, will have 574 beds as well as 22 parking spaces.

The new hotel is located near new Marseille, the renewed urban area around the Marseille harbour, Cox and Kings said.

Meininger, which runs 26 hotels in Europe hotels, typically targets business and leisure travellers, particularly backpackers, families and groups.

Along with facilities like guest kitchen, a game zone, unlimited Wi-Fi and flexible room structures, the new hotel will also offer single and double rooms as well as bedrooms for up to four people.

“Marseilles offers everything that we’re looking for when it comes to Meininger’s accelerated growth and our ambitious expansion plans in Europe and beyond. The local hostel market, in particular, offers great potential according to our analyses, while at the same time we are consolidating our national presence in France”, said Hannes Spanring, CEO, Meininger Hotels.

It also recently opened new hotels in Budapest and Munich Olympiapark.
