SpiceJet Introduces daily flights from Mumbai to Bangkok

India’s most aggressive low-cost carrier SpiceJet launched a daily direct flight connecting Mumbai with Thai capital Bangkok, becoming the first Indian budget carrier to provide services on the route.

The airline also introduced six domestic flights connecting Mumbai with Chennai, Varanasi and Kolkata.

The international flight will start from May 17 while domestic flights will commence from April 18, SpiceJet said.

Bangkok is also the second international destination after Dubai that SpiceJet will be connecting with a direct flight from Mumbai. It already operates non-stop flights from Bangkok to Amritsar, Delhi and Kolkata.

The airline also announced the launch of a new flight between Hyderabad and Kishangarh, Rajasthan under the UDAN scheme. The flight will commence its operations from April 25 and the price of airline ticket (one-way) will start from Rs 3,701.

The airline will be deploying its Bombardier Q-400 90-seater aircraft on the UDAN routes while the international sector and the regular domestic routes will be served using its fleet of Boeing 737-NG.

Last month, SpiceJet had introduced six new flights on the Kishangarh-Ahmedabad-Kishangarh, Lakhimpur-Guwahati-Lakhimpur and Jaipur-Amritsar-Jaipur sectors under the UDAN scheme.

On March 31, SpiceJet introduced 28 new flights, including 14 new flights under the UDAN scheme on the routes of Kishangarh-Ahmedabad-Kishangarh, Lakhimpur-Guwahati-Lakhimpur, Jaipur-Amritsar-Jaipur, Delhi-Jharsuguda-Delhi, Hyderabad-Jharsuguda-Hyderabad, Kolkata-Jharsuguda-Kolkata and Bhopal-Udaipur-Bhopal.

The regional connectivity scheme UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) seeks to connect unserved and under-served airports as well as make flying affordable.

With the launch of the new flight, SpiceJet will operate 34 daily flights under the regional connectivity scheme.

Headquartered in Gurgaon, SpiceJet is the fourth largest airline in the country by number of domestic passengers carried. The airline operates 312 daily flights to 55 destinations, including 47 Indian and 7 international destinations from its hubs at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
