Cox and Kings Unit to open 4-storey hotel in Stuttgart, Germany

Cox and Kings’ unit Meininger Hotels said it has signed contract with a German developer for the construction of a 156-room hotel in the city of Stuttgart.

The new hotel, scheduled to open in 2021, will have 460 beds in an area of 6,900 square metres on four floors.

The new hotel is located near the city capital of Baden Wuerttemberg, the Indian travel and tourism company said.

Meininger, which runs 26 hotels in Europe hotels, typically targets business and leisure travellers, particularly backpackers, families and groups.

The new hotel in Stuttgart would be no exception, especially due to the presence of international companies the city and its multiple convention centres.

“Stuttgart is a city with compelling cultural and historical attractions and is considered as one of the strongest export metropolitan regions in Germany,” said Hannes Spanring, CEO of Meininger.  “Our hotel concept will be able to serve this market very well.”

It is the second project for Meininger Hotels in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, after the already announced Heidelberg project.

In keeping with its focus on group travelers and backpackers, the Stuttgart property will offer flexible room structures, Cox and Kings said.

FAST EXPANSION

Meininger has been on an expansion spree of late. It currently has 11 hotel projects are under development.

Yesterday, for example, the company announced the beginning of a 126-room hotel in the city of Bremen. The hotel, scheduled to open in 2022, will have 378 beds in an area of 5,100 square metres on 11 floors.

It also recently opened new hotels in Budapest and Munich Olympiapark, and said its projects in Heidelberg and Paris will open in 2019. This will mark the company’s entry into the French market.
