L&T wins construction orders worth over Rs 1,000 crore

Infrastructure major Larsen and Toubro reported new construction orders worth over Rs 1,000 crore from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and the United Arab Emirates.

L&T’s Smart World and Communication business secured orders from the Tirupati Smart City Corporation Limited to implement pan-city ICT (Information and communications technology) solutions and design and construct a City Operations Centre (COC) for the city of Tirupati.

The project includes implementation of elements such as CCTV cameras, variable message signage, public address systems  environmental sensors at smart bus stops, smart spots and elevated smart solutions locations across the city.

The project also involves construction of uniquely designed, an iconic smart city operations centre building, equipped with state-of-the-art solutions.

The business also secured another order from the  Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation for the  supply, installation, testing, commissioning and testing of Hi-Tech laboratories for government high schools and and higher secondary schools in the state.

The project, under the central government’s Information and Communication (ICT) scheme includes the  setting up state-of-the-art hi-tech computer lab infrastructure and internet leased line connectivity for 3,090 government high schools and 2,939 government higher secondary schools, across 32 districts in Tamil Nadu.

The project also involves setting up of a Centralised Control Centre (CCC) to centrally monitor, provision and manage IT components of schools with a helpdesk facility.

In Maharashtra, it received orders from the Home Department of the Government of Maharashtra for the expansion of CCTV based Mumbai city surveillance system. The project includes the enhancement of the CCTV network by 5,625 cameras that will be installed across the city at various junctions.

L&T’s buildings and factories business secured order from a top Indian energy company for the construction of transit storage yard, material receiving and dispatch center facility at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh on a design and build basis.  The facility is spread across an area of 8 lakh square feet. The project has to be completed within 24 months.

The power transmission and distribution business of L&T secured orders in Jharkhand for the design and construction of a  220-kV Gas Insulated Substation and its associated transmission lines and cables. The substation and connected transmission systems are aimed to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the Ranchi Smart City.

In the UAE it received orders for the construction, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 132/11kV Substation and associated works.
