Adani Ports hits volume target 1 year ahead of time

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), India’s largest private multi-port operator said it hit the target of achieving annual volume of 200 millon tons of cargo movement one year ahead of schedule, and plans to double the throughput by 2025.

Adani Ports had taken 12 years to reach the 50 million ton mark. Its next 50 million came in another three years, and has achieved the 200 million ton mark in five years.

While a significant amount of this cargo came from the company’s first port at Mundra, its other non-major ports at Hazira, Dhamra, Dahej and Kattupalli also contributed, it added.

It now wants to add another 200 mln in six years, hitting the 400 mln ton mark by 2025.

“Our projections were to reach this milestone by 2020 but we could achieve it ahead of schedule courtesy the tech-driven operational efficiency and enhanced asset utilisation”, said, Karan Adani, CEO, Adani Ports.

Adani Ports, part of the Adani group currently operates ten ports across six states in India.
