Pharmaceutical company Unichem Laboratories said it received final approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration for the sale of a generic version of Casper Pharma’s Zyloprim tablets.
Allopurinol is a medication used to decrease high uric acid levels.
It is specifically used to prevent gout and specific types of kidney stones.
Taken by mouth or injected into a vein, the drug is also used to prevent and treat high uric acid levels that can occur with chemotherapy.
Unichem’s allopurinol tablets will be sold in the doses of 100 mg and 300 mg.
