PWD starts installing CCTV surveillance cameras in Delhi

The Public Works Department will set up a network of closed circuit cameras in Delhi by September.

The contract for the project has been awarded to Bharat Electronics Ltd or BEL, which has in turn contracted Mumbai-based Aurionpro Solutions Ltd for the installation and maintenance of the surveillance system.

“Aurionpro shall supply and install cameras and set up the surveillance system at the designated sites as per the contract and provide maintenance and support,” the Mumbai-based company said.

“The order is valued at about Rs 48 crores. The installation and implementation of the project will be completed by September 2019, followed by the maintenance and support of five years,” it added.

A network of closed circuit cameras or CCTV cameras was one of the key promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

The initial plan was to have over 1.4 lakh cameras installed. The recordings of these cameras will be accessible to police, government officials as well as resident welfare associations.

Established in 1997, Aurinpro Solutions Ltd has its operations across 12 countries. The company also caters to a host of clients across banking, financial and insurance (BFSI), cyber security and smart cities and smart mobility sector across India and the globe.
