Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland said it received an order from Gujarat State Roadways Corporation for 1,290 buses.
The latest order comes less than two months after the company bagged orders for 2,580 buses from Institute of Road Transport, Chennai, Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation and Chandigarh Transport Undertaking.
“With this booking, our order book for State Transport Undertakings (STU) is upwards of 3,000 buses. This is a testament to the reliability, durability and robustness of our buses”, Ashok Leyland said.
Ashok Leyland, a part of the Hinduja Group, is currently the fourth largest manufacturer of buses in the world and India’s largest bus manufacturer.
It competes with Tata Motors, Eicher and Volvo.
