Cochin Shipyard to make four 8,000-ton carriers for JSW Group

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), which operates the largest ship-building and maintenance facility in India, on Friday signed contracts for the construction and delivery of four 8,000-ton mini bulk carriers with a subsidiary of the JSW Group, one of India’s largest business conglomerates.

The vessels will be built at the CSL yard in Kochi and will be delivered to
Utkarsh Advisory Services Private Limited before December 2020, the Kochi-based company said.

Incorporated in 1972 as a Government of India Company, CSL has secured shipbuilding orders from many internationally renowned companies from the Europe and the Middle East.

It has also built INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier.

JSW Group, formerly known as the Jindal South West, is present across various sectors including steel, energy, minerals, port and infrastructure and cement, in multiple locations across India, the United States and Africa.
