Info Edge Ltd, the parent of Naukri.com, has bought a 76% stake in dating app maker Aisle Network Pvt Ltd for Rs 91 cr.
Aisle Network operates several dating websites, such as Aisle, Anbe, Arike and HeyDil, catering to various languages and states such as Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil.
The company is based in HSR Layout, Bangalore, and had revenue of Rs 7.56 cr last financial year.
“These platforms allow users to browse through profiles of other users with the intent of finding their suitable partner,” said Info Edge.
Info Edge already has a matchmaking website known as Jeevansathi.com, but it is primarily targeted at those who are looking for a partner for marriage.
Aisle is targeted at those who are looking for a relationship, whether or not they are looking to get married.
“The investment would help Info Edge to strengthen its offerings in the match making segment by addressing the needs of people of different age groups and beliefs, searching for a suitable match for them,” Info Edge said.
Some of the money being spent for the acquisition will go to existing shareholders of Aisle Netwrok, while the remaining will go into the company for utilization in its expansion activities.
Info Edge is one of India’s oldest internet companies, and is best known for naukri.com, India’s No.1 jobs site, which contributes all its profits.
Other websites owned by Info Edge include 99acres real estate listing platform.
Info Edge also has a stake in Zomato.com, the food delivery service, estimated to be worth around Rs 20,000 cr.
